Eating Chocolate & Watching the Moon
Spiritual Awakening through Loss and Karmic Resolution

by Catherine N. Steinberg

The major themes of Catherine’s book are her journey on becoming a mother, expanding the identity of the self and the completion of family karma within a spiritual context. Her book explores the complexities of how to balance love based relationships with one’s individual needs and desires. She takes us on her travels and adventures in South America, where cacao was first discovered. Her sharing of the significance of chocolate, and the constancy of the moon and the relevance of its phases, adds an interesting perspective to her story. There are many lessons she learned in her relationships with family members. And of paramount importance was the healing of unresolved wounding from a prior existence.

Along the way, Catherine discovered that she walks a path of the heart in this lifetime by following one’s heart-truth, cultivating an awareness of intuitive nudges, and discovering what is truly inspired by love and not just mental logic. She says, “The heart’s wisdom is greater than the mind’s, but our hearts must work with our minds to express coherently, via word and deed, what love knows to be true. To act from love, not fear, not loss, not pain. Fear is defensive. It distances us from ourselves and each other. It obscures the truth. In trying to protect us, fear will misguide us.”
