This book has been my companion as I've been hiking the Camino de Santiago de
Compostela in Spain. It was so hard to put down and I finished it today while I
was taking a lunch break in a cute little hamlet town. Several people have
stopped me to look at the book because of the intriguing title. It was fun to
share with them about how I met you both in Europe. Your mom wrote such an
incredible memoir and I am so deeply touched by it. She is such an amazing
writer. This was my 90th book I read this year, and it made my "Loved" category
on my list (only my favorites make it there.)! The poem she included at the end
came to me at the perfect time. I had a tough day on the trail today and was
feeling defeated (and 2 blisters forming), especially knowing tomorrow is a
20-mile trek. That pem reinvigorated me and I shared it with fellow Camino
walkers (as the poem mentiions "pilgrins" and "the way" which are two very big
themes for the Camino). Please tell your mom I LOVE her memoir and thoroughly
enjoyed the read. It brought me to many tears and brought smiles to my face.
Sending love to you both from Spain!
